Sue, Matt and I had a leisurely morning after which we had lunch at the Desoto Grill. We drove Matt to the Kalispell airport around 12:30 pm and then Sue and I stopped at the Hungry Horse Liquor Store for some Huckleberry alcohol products. Sue and I picked up dinner at the Nite Owl Restaurant and brought it back to our hotel room.
2023-10-10 Becca and Conner Wedding - Drive from Alberta Canada to Columbia Falls Montana

Sue, Matt and I drove 275 miles from Canada back to the Cedar Creek Lodge in Columbia Falls. We stopped on the way back at the Going To The Sun Gallery and then we ate an early dinner at Jalisco Cantina. After we checked back into the lodge we went back to Cup O’ Soul for another 2 scoops of Huckleberry ice cream.
2023-10-09 Becca and Conner Wedding - Waterton Park Canada Trails - Lakes - Falls

Matt and I drove the second road through the park to get to a couple of trails. The first trail was the Red Rock Canyon trail which was less than a half mile walk. The second trail from the same parking lot was the Blakiston Falls trail which was about a 1.2 mile round trip trail to a beautiful waterfall. We drove back to the lodge and picked up Sue and drove to Cameron Falls at the edge of town. Finally we ate dinner in the hotel because it was the only place open for the dinner in the town. The town basically closed down for the season and our hotel was the only hotel still open for rooms and dinner. During our stay in Canada we only drove 47 miles.
2023-10-08 Becca and Conner Wedding - Visitor Center - Hike - Lunch - Lakeshore

In the morning Sue, Matt and I drove to the visitors center in town to check out the current information on the park. Matt and I dropped Sue off at the hotel and then Matt and I hiked the Bear’s Hump trail. The trailhead wasn’t far from the hotel and the trail was 1.5 miles with an elevation change of 738 feet. We learned that in 2017 a forest fire destroyed most of the trees in the park as well as the lodge we are staying in, the visitors center and much of the town. At the end of the trail right near the parking lot was a nice size heard of Big Horn Sheep. After the trail we picked up Sue and had lunch in town at the Lakeside Chophouse and then walked along the water through the town. Later that afternoon Sue, Matt and I drove one of the two roads through the park to Cameron Lake. Most of the town was closed so we ate dinner in the hotel as did much of the visitors in the area.

We all checked out of the cabin at 10:00 am and Lyndal, Lori, Emilie and David flew home while Andrea and Kyle started their long drive home. Becca and Conner checked into Cedar Creek Lodge and Sue, Matt and I started our drive to Waterton Park in Canada by way of the Going to the Sun Road through Glacier National Park. While in and around Glacier for the past few days we drove 260 miles and then it was 130 mile from Glacier to Waterton Park.

Lyndal and Lori prepared a delicious breakfast before we all got ready for the wedding. Andrea married Becca and Conner at 12:30 pm at Ryan Beach in Glacier National Park on Lake McDonald. After the wedding and pictures, Becca and Conner left with the photographer to take pictures throughout the park while the rest of us had lunch at the Glacier Highland Restaurant before returning to the cabin to prepare for the evenings dinner. A chef prepared a delicious meal that included bison prime rib followed by a delicious two layered marbled cake made by Andrea. One layer was merlot filling and the other was maple cinnamon.

Today we all checked into the 12 person cabin in Coram Montana. Sue, Matt and I stopped in Whitefish where I bought my Stetson cowboy hat followed by lunch at Jalisco Cantina before arriving at the cabin. Becca and Conner ordered pizza for dinner and then Emilie and David arrived later in the evening by plane.

Lyndal, Conner, Matt, Andrea, Becca and I hiked the Avalanche Trail in Glacier National Park. The trail was almost 4 miles round trip with an elevation change of almost 600 ft over 4000 ft. After the trail we picked up Sue, Lori and Kyle and had dinner at Vaqueros Mexican Restaurant. On the recommendation of the McMurphy’s, Sue, Matt and I stopped for some delicious Huckleberry ice cream at Cup O’ Soul.
