Fireman Dies of Injury Received at Gas Blast
The gas explosion which killed Herman Griebe, 62 years old, a recluse, in his home at 2348 Roscoe St., May 2 and injured eleven neighbors claimed another life last night with the death of Fireman John W. Storey of truck 13 in Belmont hospital. Griebe’s house was virtually leveled by the blast, which occurred, police said as a result of his attempt to end his life by gas. Fireman Storey responded and was hurt when caught in the collapse of a wall section. Storey was 32 years old and lived at 1508 North Campbell Avenue.
